What is the highest performer doing?
Since July 2006 recycling and composting in the London Borough of Harrow has
been compulsory. Harrow provides a brown bin scheme to 70,000 households
for mixed kitchen waste (inclusive of meat and bones) and green garden waste.
The service will also collect animal bedding and untreated wood. Collections are
made weekly. This service collects an average of 232 kilograms per household
per year (download a summary table of kg/hh/yr for all the London
Boroughs below). As Harrow is an outer London Borough it is likely that there is more
garden waste available for collection compared to the inner London Boroughs.
