Dry Recycling
The London Borough of Redbridge operates a weekly door-to-door collection service which serves 90,474 households. Residents are provided with a black box for the collection of:
- aerosols
- glass bottles and jars
- mixed cans
- paper
- plastic bottles
Material is partially sorted at the kerbside into a split back vehicle.
Organics
Redbridge operates a green garden waste collection, available to 98,602 households. Collections are made on request and residents are to provide their own sacks. Sacks are to be left untied.

Bring recycling sites are provided for 11,661 estate households. They are situated in 475 sites across 339 estates. The estate bring sites consist of either 360, 660 or 1100 litre bins depending on requirements and residents are provided with a reusable bag to transport recyclables from their homes to the bring site. The following materials are collected co-mingled:
- aerosol
- glass bottles and jars
- mixed cans
- plastic bottles
Paper is also collected, but separately in it's own bin.

Home Composting
Redbridge offers residents home composters at the subsidised rate of £12 (220L compost converter) or £20 (330 litre compost converter). The bins can be ordered by calling Recycle Now Partners on 08450 770757.
Redbridge is working in partnership with London Community Recycling Network to recruit a network of volunteer Master Composters. The Master Composters provide free and friendly advice to any residents interested in learning more about home composting. Nappy Waste
Redbridge has joined Real Nappies for London. Real Nappies for London is a new London-wide scheme to provide parents with an opportunity to try real nappies. If you live in Redbridge and have a child under the age of 18 months you are entitled to a £30 voucher towards real nappies or a nappy laundering service. There are a limited number of vouchers and vouchers are available on a first come first served basis until March 2009. Junk Mail
Redbridge promotes the use of the Mail Preference Service, which enables residents to sign up to reduce the amount of unwanted mail they receive: www.mpsonline.org.uk.
Waste Exchange
Redbridge Council operates a waste exchange website which allows residents to give away items they no longer need and search for items they do, preventing items that would have otherwise have been thrown away from going to landfill. Redbridge council also organise regular ‘Give or Take’ days around the borough run in association with the Forest Recycling Project.
Material Aware Shopping
Redbridge promotes green shopping and can provide residents with reusable shopping bags.

Bulky Waste
The Council offers a bulky waste collection. .A charge applies to this service and collections must be booked in advance. To calculate your charge, please call the customer contact centre on: 020 8554 5000 All fridges collected have their gases removed and are then recycled.
Residual Waste
Residual household waste is collected weekly from the kerbside. Residents must provide thier own refuse sacks or bin.
Commercial Waste and Recycling
Redbridge provides a commercial waste collection to businesses in the borough although no commercial recycling service is currently offered. Commercial waste is not accepted at the Chigwell Road reuse and recycling centre.
